Baghdad 8 August 2021; UNESCO and the Digital Development Center launched the “Young Developer” program for children. The program aims to build children’s skills in the fields of application industry and software development, which is a step towards digital literacy among marginalized and vulnerable groups in Iraqi society.
The main objective of the program is to target 1,000 children from all governorates who will be enrolled in a month-long intensive online training with free access to the application platforms.
UNESCO supports local initiatives to achieve digital inclusion and digital literacy in societies, and is collaborating with the Digital Development Center, the program’s sponsor. Thirty children will develop and build their games and applications during this phase of the program, which is the first phase followed by many other courses.
This program is unique in that it is based on an interactive training method provided by instructors who are of similar age to the students. The Ghaith Zia Certified Trainer for this program is 14 years old and has trained and is qualified to work as a certified trainer in the applications industry.
